Rhodesian Fireforce: history's most lethal counterinsurgency tactic - Teaching Tactics
Просмотров 929 тыс.Год назад
Fireforce was a daring tactic developed by the Rhodesian Security Forces during the Rhodesian Bush War of 1965-1980. Following its Unilateral Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom, Rhodesia (modern-day Zimbabwe) became a heavily sanctioned pariah-state, condemned for its insistence on maintaining a system of minority rule in the face of a global wave of decolonization. A violent i...
Germany's Assault Rifle Platoon: Revolutionizing Infantry Firepower - Teaching Tactics
Просмотров 1 млн2 года назад
The German assault platoon of late 1944 was a thorough revision of squad and platoon organization around the unprecedented firepower and mobility of the Sturmgewehr-44, the first mass-produced assault rifle. While it failed to become the backbone of German infantry, the organization of the assault platoon still provides a fascinating insight into German tactical thinking in the final stage of t...
The German Volksgrenadier Battalion (1944) - Four Minute Formation
Просмотров 10 тыс.2 года назад
The German Volksgrenadier division was a last-ditch attempt to mobilize the final manpower and heavy equipment reserves in late 1944. It combined the survivors of shattered divisions with hastily trained troops from other services, convalescents from hospitals and previously deemed unfit personnel. Yet it also organized its frontline units in a novel way, making use of the revolutionary Sturmge...

    The betrayal of the White populations of Rhodesia and South Africa by their American and British cousins is one of the greatest crimes of the 20th century. It's a great shame on our countries that we turned over these nations to rule by Black communist governments despite the valor of their armed forces in resisting that unmitigated disaster.

    The scene with Col Winters at the start is a good example, but also pretty ironic because the immediately previous scene they had taken that start position by making a risky dash across open ground without any fire support by relying on speed, surprise and avoiding been noticed. So basically the exact OPPOSITE of fire and maneuver.

    • @DigitalBattlefieldTours
      @DigitalBattlefieldTours 16 дней назад

      The show depicts it like an unsupported bayonet charge but in reality Winters had set-up his belt-fed machine guns to cover the move, leaving gaps between the assault squads for them to fire through up to the last moment. He had also ordered the machine gunners to join the rifle squads as soon as these reached the roadway, so it was a type of bounding movement as described in the video. Winters describes the action in the book I got his opening quote from: 'Beyond Band of Brothers' pages 139-140.

    Conceived by ambition, born in pompousness and rivalry.. the longing shadow follows, in order that it may sieze. Becoming many things, that it may become you. Denizen of earthsea, remember the story of kings and dragons, shadows and death, true names and love.. For when you run, you are chased. When you escape, you must flee. Success like this is the life of an animal. A man with eye must find a place he is strong and wait to face the shadow which finds him at his weakest.

    “They feared for their safety and prosperity” love how mainstream tries to paint Rhodesia as evil when they were 100% correct (SA is far from a 1st or even 2nd class nation in less than 100 years as well as the murder/ theft of white/ Boer minorities who are ironically blamed for SA issues though the minorities have been largely out of power/ control for 40-50 years; as an American I can say it is not far off the mark from our current minority mindset; blame and victimhood but zero accountability). Rhodesia actually had a brilliant idea which would have saved all of SA if not Africa to this day; equal opportunity not equality. By integrating Africans (black) into Rhodesian society progressively instead of what happened all around them (thus giving them credible fears) and just handing everything to the Africans. Think it’s a joke or lie or wouldn’t have worked/ been supported? Look how many Africans (black) fought for the so call “racist” Rhodesia. The opposition was communists by the way (in the era of the Cold War as stated at the video start it was America/ democracies vs communism, so let the fact that the Rhodesians fought not just communists but also political/ economically against democracies while ironically being a democracy themselves; they were the only nation in the whole Cold War to do this by the way). Rhodesia would have been a model for all of SA and would have kept SA as a stronger nation than it is currently. Argue Rhodesia/ old SA vs modern Zimbabwe/ SA if you really think otherwise. One of the most ridiculous events in modern history. But shoot those boys could fight (while isolated from literally the whole world for DECADES). Fck the tiny hats (iykyk)

    Any man no matter their career should know tactics by virtue of being a man. It’s how you should think. And yes a man. Us men have forgot that, myself included. Yes this comment is about men. Not woman transitioning to men or woman who are woman but about men. We don’t even have men’s day. 😂😂😂 treat everyone with respect but men need to stay out of the woman’s bathroom. Ha. Major rant. I had fun making this thing.

    Odd that the United States was supposedly fighting the spread of Communism in SE Asia at the same time it provided political and material support to the Soviet and Chinese Communist supported insurgency in Rhodesia. But we played both sides in Vietnam too, so I suppose it’s not THAT surprising.
